Saint-Gobain is a large multinational company known for developing, manufacturing, and distributing innovative materials for sustainable construction. Founded in 1665 at the request of King Louis XIV, the company originally built the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles in France. The year 2024 was particularly significant for Saint-Gobain, as the Olympics were held in Paris, its “hometown”. The company played a crucial role in the construction of the Olympic Village for the event.
We needed something memorable to celebrate this event – an idea that would represent both the Olympics and Saint-Gobain simultaneously. The concept should resonate with the general public, serving as branded content that authentically captures a piece of Olympic history.
The podcast Building the Olympics was created to explore the history of Olympic Villages through twelve engaging episodes. Listeners discover that the first Olympic Village was constructed for the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles during the Great Depression. Additionally, they learn that the Tokyo 2020 Village was designed based on the principles of “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle”. The series takes listeners on a journey from Berlin to Seoul, London to Moscow, and on to Paris 2024, blending sporting achievements with significant historical events. It presents the story of the Olympics from a fresh perspective, focusing on the views and experiences within the Olympic villages.
